This graduation project is part of the Product Development department. You will be working at the Technical Analyse department.
Functieomschrijving
Goal is to optimize the shape of the front of a truck with respect to the aerodynamic drag, using optimization techniques and flow simulation tools (CFD). A simplified truck model will be used, and a range of yaw angles will be considered (to simulate wind conditions). Aerodynamic features that play a dominant role are the flow separation, especially at larger yaw angles, and the suction forces at the front edges. Due to yaw angle effects and the ground interference, the top-view of the optimum shape will probably be different from the side-view.
When time permits, wind tunnel experiments are carried out to validate simulations.
